Because I find squat-toilets terrifying, I’m all for going to places with respectable bathrooms, so I was in once we read that description. I didn’t actually venture into the bathrooms, so I have no idea if this claim was true or not.
The décor was pretty cool; the upstairs was designed to look like a former Opium den, with red lights and lots of birdcages. Since I’ve never actually been in an Opium den, former or otherwise, I can only presume that this was a good representation.
Suzie Wong’s was an excellent place for people watching, we took one of the Chinese roommates with us, and it was William’s first night at a bar or club. He brought two girls with him that he knew when he studied abroad (I kept calling them his “lady friends” and so did he. He also told me that these were not his only “lady friends” because he can’t be tied down to just one person. He’s a riot, if I do say so myself). He spent the evening trying to imitate the dance moves of my friend Chase, and that was most definitely worth watching. Chase’s dance moves generally involve a lot of movement and we did create a very nice African-inspired dance to take up lots of room on the dance floor. William did his best to keep up.
As for finding a date, I think I’ll leave that to the professionals. The only eligible bachelors appeared to qualify for Social Security. And they came in their work suits. If you were looking for a date at Suzie’s, you had better have been looking for an octogenarian.

This gentleman tried to jump in our picture. He was trying to find a date. No, thank you sir.
